Mossy Letter For Spring

Can you believe Daylight Savings is just around the corner?!?!?! I think it's less than two weeks away. Can you believe that? How is your week going? What have you been up to? Lots of question marks!

I'm happy to share that mine has been a productive one! I took off Monday to get a lot of things done around the house and it really helped! Sometimes I think I would like to just have a STAYcation instead of a vacation. There are always soooo many things on the "to do" list that it seems like a never-ending battle. Having this blog helps me get things done because I hold myself accountable to you, believe it or not!

I just want to say thank you for reading along if you do. I am excited to see that I have gained many new fans on Facebook, Pinterest and Twittter in the last month. It's just wild to see the numbers increase. I thank anyone who reads along. It means a lot to me. I LOVE reading blogs and seeing what other people are up to and I think the coolest thing about blogging is making friends and seeing how other people do things. hehe!  : )

My next little project was an attempt to bring a little Spring in the house. I have been eyeing objects covered in moss for a while. I thought it would be a lot of fun to cover a letter to hang in our home so the image below is of a letter I covered and hung on a mirror over our mantel. I absolutely LOVE decorating the mirror. For years I didn't even consider decorating the mirror but recently discovered that it is just another blank slate where I can add some wall covering for a subtle piece to draw the eye upward in the room. Otherwise the mirror is quite bland! The letter is a little hard to make out in the picture below, I guess but you get the jist!

I found a cute letter H and using adhesive spray I covered it in moss(purchased at Dollar Tree). Then I used a 3M plastic hanger that looks like brushed nickel to attach it to the mirror. I used a sheer off-white ribbon to hang the letter. I love how it turned out! Have you covered any objects in moss? What types of decorating ideas are you dying to try that you haven't yet tackled?

Winter seems like it has left us so fast this year. Time to start clearing out the yard and getting ready for Spring now.

We moved six months ago and I still haven't put much on our walls and the bedrooms need curtains.

Spring is my absolute favorite time of year. I love Easter, daylight savings is the best, and I just feel alive! I'm hoping this Spring will bring a new member to our family (well, at least I'm hoping to get pregnant). :) I love the letter and it looks so pretty in the mirror!!

I've never covered anything with moss. How interesting!

Right now my decorating needs seem to be looking at making a bench for my foyer and I would love to make something to hide the cat box in that is in my first floor bathroom.

Oh I would LOVE to hide our cat box too!

what a great idea. I never considered decorating a mirror. I like the effect you got with the moss. Happy Spring to you! The daffodils are up where I live.

Sadly I am not much into decorating...the best I can do is buy a painting. I have a Guillome Azoulay picture called "Duke" in my living room that my husband loves. I have a Caroline Young painting also in my living room that I adore. That's about all the decorating that I do :)

How original. You have the soul of an artist. I would have never thought of these things. Thanks for the smiles. Deb

I like decorating with nature themes. I have a downed birch tree that I'd somehow like to use for home decor.

I have pretty much no design sense whatsoever.... I have pinned tons of ideas that I would like to try, but I don't have much confidence in this area :) I love that you used inexpensive materials for this project. It looks great!

Interesting. Did you find that idea on Pinterest?

Interesting project! I've never used moss before. I'm not a crafty person but I'd love to do some projects with my 18-mo old!

I need to get my spring mantel done. Did you ever notice that the Dollar Tree moss smells really funky?

Decorating is something I shy away from. My brain doesn't see things the way they will actually turn out and I've been very disappointed by my experiments. haha Right now I'm working toward hanging photos! Bare walls are ugly *ahem* boring, in my opinion.

I love spring and can't wait to open the windows! Your letter is really pretty and super cheap to put together I might have to look into trying something like this. I have never used moss in decorating.

Very cute! I have no decorating sense, and I'm usually chasing kids around:)

I love the mossy letter! I have moss on hand that I bought for another project a while back, so I'll have to do something with it for Spring!

I love adhesive spray! It is awesome! I have some letters I want to paint with a stainless steel paint so they look like the Urban Outfitters letters.

I have TONS of projects I want to tackle (thanks, Pinterest) and I have no time to do it. Hopefully I can get off the old duff and just do it! Have a great spring!

Staycations rock!! Some people think it is weird but when I take time to improve my daily surroundings it makes me feel better daily. I bet it gives you a warm fuzzy feeling when you come into your living room now. :-)

I have one wall in my den that is wallpaper - a yuck green and gold design. I want to replace it, but can't decide what to replace it with.

I'm not that creative. If I get some pictures hung on the walls, I think I'm doing good. Your moss covered H is very nice.

This is a great post. I often feel the same about needing a staycation. I had a week off and considered going out of town but I spent the entire week doing things around the house.

I really like that letter. Great idea. Excited to see more ideas. I am sending one to college and paying for a private school for another and so my decor needs to be thrifty. Visiting from the 100 comment event.

I'm not a creative/artistic/crafty person so I don't really mess with stuff like that. But I'm impressed with people who can actually make something beautiful on their own!

Oh my gosh, that picture was playing tricks on my mind! I kept thinking it was hanging on the ceiling fan!

All my spring projects tend to be outside. Although, I think I need to wipe down the walls in the house this spring. The wood stove has them quite dusty!

Love this! I've been wanting to cover a wreath in moss for my door!! I have the wreath, but hadn't started looking for moss. Now I know I can go to Dollar Tree!
